The Banff Centre

Banff Centre Revitalization is the largest redevelopment project in the history of The Banff Centre, encompassing over $100 million in capital projects. Major initiatives included:

  • The Kinnear Centre for Creativity & Innovation: a major new learning and meeting centre at the heart of the Banff Centre campus, opened summer 2010
  • The Shaw Amphitheatre: a spectacular new outdoor performance venue, capable of seating 1,600, opened July 2011
  • Dining Centre: opened in 2008, the Dining Centre includes participant and staff dining areas, new kitchen facilities, a wine bar, and an à la carte restaurant.
  • Scholarships and Programs: $28 million raised to fund Centre scholarship endowments and programs
  • Campus Greening/Outdoor Performance Spaces: improvements to the Centre’s pathway system, the restoration of natural landscapes, and the closure of the St. Julien Road through-road. The Shaw Amphitheatre, suitable for performances and learning activities, will open in summer 2011.
  • Leighton Artists' Colony Expansion: the capacity of the Leighton Artists' Colony to inspire new creative work was increased by the addition of the Painter House
