Fred Wah teaches at the University of Calgary and has published poetry, prose-poems, biofiction, and criticism. His book of prose-poems, Waiting for Saskatchewan (Turnstone 1985), received the Governor General's Literary Award in 1986 and So Far (Talonbooks 1991) was awarded the Writers Guild of Alberta Stephan G. Stephannson Award for Poetry in 1992. Diamond Grill (NeWest 1996), a biofiction about hybridity and growing up in a small-town Chinese-Canadian cafe was published in 1996 and won the Writers Guild of Alberta Howard O'Hagan Award for Short Fiction. His most recent book, Faking It: Poetics and Hybridity (NeWest 2000), was awarded the Gabrielle Roy Prize for writing on Canadian literature. Contributor to: |
