Jeff Tabvahtah, Contributor
Banff Centre Press

Jeff Tabvahtah is from Arviat, Nunavut. He comes from a traditional community where drum dancing and other activities were introduced to him at a young age. He began to drum at 15. Since then, he’s learned different kinds of drumming and dancing, as well as how to make a drum through his great-uncle. Tabvahtah appeared in Qaggiq ‘95 and ‘96, an Inuit fashion show at the Museum of Civilization in Hull, Quebec. The clothing was designed by Inuit women, including Tabvahtah’s mother. The latter show was directed by Alejandro Ronceria. He also appeared in the film Trial at Fortitude Bay in 1994.
Tabvahtah currently teaches adult education courses in Inuit history, math, English, and life management skills through the high school in his community. He hopes to get further involved in theatrical arts and to continue his education.
