Alberto Ruy-Sánchez is a Mexican writer and editor and the author of thirteen books, seven of them non-fiction. He has his Ph.D. from Jussieu University in Paris, where he lived for eight years. His novel Mogador, published by City Lights in 1993, was awarded the Xavier Villaurrutia Prize, the most prestigious literary recognition in Mexico. The New Mexico State University distinguished Ruy-Sánchez as Literary Essayist in 1991, and he was also honored with a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. Since 1988, Ruy-Sánchez has been the publisher and founding editor of Latin America's leading arts magazine, Artes de Mexico. In ten years, this magazine has received fifty-two national and international awards for its achievements in editorial, design, and printing. Ruy-Sánchez has been on the faculty of Writing & Publishing at The Banff Centre. Contributor to: |
