Leon Rooke lives in Winnipeg. Most
recent of Rooke's 28 books include Painting the Dog: The Best
Stories of Leon Rooke (Thomas Allen 2001) and the novel The
Fall of Gravity (Thomas Allen 2000). He has published more than
300 short stories and is represented in over 80 national and
international anthologies. His novel Shakespeare's Dog (Stoddart
1982) won a Governor General's Literary Award and Fat Woman
(Oberon 1980), another novel, won the Paperback Novel of the Year
Award and was shortlisted for other prestigious awards.
