David Adams Richards has been named one of the ten best Canadian writers under the age of 45. Richards won the Canadian Authors Association Literary Award for Fiction in 1991 and the Canada-Australia Prize in 1992 for his important contribution to literature. He is a two time recipient of the Governor General's Literary Award - once for his novel Nights Below Station Street (McClelland & Stewart 1987) and once for his memoir Lines on the Water: A Fisherman's Life on the Miramichi (Doubleday 1998). He was recently named Author of the Year at the Libris Awards and his latest novel, Mercy Among the Children (Doubleday 2000), was co-winner of the Giller Prize. Contributor to: |
