Patrick Friesen

Patrick Friesen is a poet, playwright, lyricist, essayist, script writer, and writer of text for contemporary dance and music soundscapes. He has collaborated with musicians such as Cate Friesen, Big Dave McLean, the Jakob Trio, and Marilyn Lerner. He won the Manitoba Book of the Year Award for Blasphemer’s Wheel: Selected & New Poems (1994) and was nominated for the Governor General’s Award for Poetry in 1997 for A Broken Bowl. st mary at main (The Muses’ Company, 1998) and the breath you take from the lord (Harbour Publishing, 2002). Both of these books also received nominations for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Award (BC Book Prizes, 1998, 2003). His most recent book is the limited edition chapbook Bordello Poems (Vancouver Film School, 2004). He has also released a CD, Small Rooms, of text/improve piano with Marilyn Lerner. They are currently working on another CD.
