Cynthia Flood's "Half-Century" originally appeared in Geist. Her short story collections are The Animals in their Elements and My Father Took a Cake to France (both Talonbooks). Flood attended the Writing Studio (1996 Rachel Wyatt and Edna Alford), where she began her novel-in-progress, The City Where the Deer Sleep.
