Michelle Desbarats Fels attended the Writing Studio (1997 Rachel Wyatt and Don McKay) and was a finalist in the CBC/Saturday Night National Poetry Contest (1996-1997). In 1998, she received an Ontario Arts Council-Works in Progress grant. Her first book is titled Last Child to Come Inside (Carleton University Press 1998). She now lives in Ottawa, but attended grade one in a room with a huge stained-glass window almost filling one entire wall.
