Originally from northeastern Alberta, Marilyn Dumont has published in journals and anthologies including Writing the Circle (NeWest Press 1990), The Road Home (Reidmore Books 1992), The Colour of Resistance (Sister Vision Press 1994), Looking at the Words of Our People (Theytus Books 1994), and Miscegenation Blues (Sister Vision Press 1994). Her collection of poetry A Really Good Brown Girl (Brick Books 1996) won the Gerald Lampert Award (1996) for the best first book of poetry and earned an honourable mention for the VanCity Book Prize (1997).
