In 1995, Lynn Davies attended the fall Writing Studio and won the Lina Chartrand Poetry Award. "Before the Phoenicians" originally appeared in Pottersfied Portfolio. Davies's first book of poetry, The Bridge That Carries the Road, is forthcoming (Brick Books 1999). She lives in McLeod Hill, New Brunswick.
