Julia Darling (1956-2005) was a playwright, poet, and short story writer who lived in the north of England. Her stories have been published in many anthologies and collections, and have won several awards. Her first novel was entitled Crocodile Soup (McArthur & Co. 1999), and her second novel, the first draft of which was written in the Leighton Artists’ Colony, was The Taxi Driver’s Daughter (Penguin, 2003).
