Millie Chen and Evelyn Von Michalofski have since 1990 collaborated on several projects that investigate community as a concept and a practice. Their costume-based works examine cultural identity through the language of survival, and they include Yurtopia (Lethbridge, 1995), and Hairbread (Gronigen, Holland, 1993). Millie and Evelyn live in Toronto and work independently as well as collaboratively.
