Staff Accommodation

The Banff Centre offers different types of on site and off site shared housing.  Our inventory consists of one dorm-style residence; one, two or three bedroom co-op apartments and single rooms at the YWCA of Banff, all of which are furnished.

On Site Housing

Most seasonal staff live on site in Don Becker Residence. This is a shared, dorm-style accommodation. This type of housing is the most affordable and is popular with university students and entry-level staff between the ages of 18 - 30 who are here on a short-term basis.  It is generally the most transient of our housing.  Space availability changes daily.

Donald Becker Residence is a communal living environment and has the following amenities:

  • Full kitchen with stove, oven, sinks
  • Lounge with television and cable
  • laundry facilities
  • Wireless internet (throughout the Banff Centre)
  • Bike and storage rooms

Furnished with:

  • Single bed per person
  • Dresser per person
  • One closet per person
  • One desk
  • One washroom per unit

There are a limited number of couples rooms available in Donald Becker residence (when space permits).

Off Site Housing

Rocky Mountain Housing Co-op

The Rocky Mountain Housing Co-op offers one, two and three bedroom units for rent, to Banff Centre Staff only.  Located next to the Bow River and close to the downtown core, the Co-op is surrounded by spectacular mountain views and is a 20 minute walk to The Banff Centre. There is no public transportation available between the Co-op and the Banff Centre.  One bedroom units are assigned on a shared basis.  The two and three bedroom units are rented out by the room

The units and building include the following amenities:

  • Utilities
  • Cable
  • 24-hr security
  • Coin operated laundry facilities
  • Parking and storage lockers

Furnished with:

  • Single bed per person
  • Sofa/ lounge chair
  • Kitchen table and chairs
  • Full kitchen with stove, fridge, dishwasher

Exclusions:

  • No pets/ No smoking
  • Telephone and Internet are NOT provided and are up to the residents to contact the appropriate companies for installation

YWCA Housing

At the YWCA of Banff, there are 12 single rooms.  These private, furnished rooms are equipped with a half bath.  

The rooms make up a secured top floor of the Oreo building with stunning views of Rundle, Norquay, Sulphur and Tunnel mountains.  The floor has:

  • Three full communal bathrooms; two with showers and one with a bathtub/shower
  • Furnished communal living room
  • Full kitchen with two stoves, fridges, microwaves, four sinks

The YWCA  has a small restaurant, laundry facilities, 24/7 front desk service and security, ATM machine, wireless internet access (with time card purchase) and a community resource center for residents convenience.

Full time salaried and hourly employees, working a guaranteed minimum of 35 hours per week, are eligible to apply for housing. As housing demands change, employees working less than the minimum amount may be considered for Donald Becker residence, on a case by case basis.
