The Quatuor Zaïde was established in April 2009 and are principally coached by Marc Coppey at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Cellist Juliette Salmona joined the quartet in September 2009.
Support from the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) has enabled them to work with Peter Cropper, Miguel da Silva, Johannes Meissl, Philippe Müller, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Alain Planès, Christoph Richter, and Hatto Beyerle.
The Quatuor Zaïde recently won first prize at the Charles Hennen International Competition in Heerlen, Holland, and the press prize at the 2010 Concours International de Quatuor à Cordes de Bordeaux.
In September 2009, the Quatuor Zaïde joined the ProQuartet-CEMC training programme, followed by lessons with Walter Levin, Louis Fima, and Paul Katz.
The Quartet have also explored contemporary repertoire with the violinist Hae-Sun Kang, soloist of the Ensemble Intercontemporain and classical repertoire with Alessandro Moccia, solo violon of the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées.
The Quatuor Zaïde already has to its credit a large number of recitals, and has performed in larger groups with cellists Julian Steckel, Jerôme Pernoo, and Roland Pidoux; pianists Alexandre Tharaud, Bertrand Chamayou, Peter Laul, Edna Stern, and Ferenc Vizi; violinist Graf Mourja; violist Michel Michalakakos; harpsicordist Benjamin Alard; and with the members of the Diotima Quartet.
Invited to perform as a resident guest at the Juventus festival in Cambrai in the summer of 2009, Quatuor Zaïde will also be the 2010 resident ensemble of the academy of the Aix-en-Provence summer festival where they will work with the composers Jonathan Harvey, Andras Keller, and Eric Le Sage.
With several engagements already booked for the 2010-2011 season, the Quatuor Zaïde looks forward to playing at the Wigmore Hall of London in January 2011.
