The Banff International String Quartet Competition is offering two new opportunities for young
quartets – apply now!
Quartet in the Community:
Melba and Orville Rollefson Residency
Dates: August 22 – September 5, 2010
Application Deadline: May 17, 2010
Quartet in the Community is open to quartets under the age of 25 who did not apply for BISQC. The quartet selected to participate in the residency will serve as musical ambassadors for BISQC, presenting concerts and other events, as requested, during the week leading up to BISQC as part of an initiative called “Quartet in the Community.” Beginning August 30, the quartet is invited to all BISQC events including lectures, performances, receptions, and special events. In addition, the quartet will have the opportunity to work with BISQC special guests including the Miró Quartet, Geoff Nuttall (St. Lawrence String Quartet), and Raman Ramakrishnan (Daedalus Quartet).

Székely/Rolston Young Musicians Fellowship

BISQC is pleased to announce the creation of a new program to inspire the next generation of chamber musicians. The Székely/Rolston Young Musicians at the Banff International String Quartet Competition is open to all Canadian chamber ensembles (preference will be given to string quartet applicants) comprised of musicians who are 18 years of age or younger.
In addition to being inspired by the performances during BISQC, the accepted ensemble will receive daily coaching sessions from the leading chamber musicians of our time. The invited ensemble will also be presented in concert.
