Aboriginal Arts at The Banff Centre will host the first ever International Indigenous Choreographers Summit from June 11 to 14. This exciting and unprecedented Summit will bring together emerging and established Indigenous choreographers from across Canada, as well as the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, to share, stimulate, and strengthen our existing choreographic knowledge.
The Summit will feature keynote speakers and choreographers and dancers addressing the future of contemporary Indigenous dance and how we get to this imagined future. This “meeting of minds” will serve to provide an extraordinary opportunity for creators and collaborators to exchange artistic and cultural knowledge and practice, and to strengthen the choreographic capacity of Indigenous dance practitioners.
